Edith Florence Joy – Fiancee, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother

There are photographs of Nanna Edith Florence Joy (nee Hicks) as a 17 year old in 1897 through to photographs of her 70’s in 1953.

Below shows Nanna Edith Florence Joy (nee Hicks) with her daughter Mary Constance Callcott (nee Joy) and sister Christina Woolley (nee Hicks), which was probably taken in the late 1940’s to early 1950’s.

Another photograph taken in 1936 at her Penshurst home shows Nanna Edith Florence Joy (nee Hicks) with her sisters and her future daughter in law Marjorie Tollner at the time of the the engagement to her son Kenneth Charles Joy.

Later photos circa late 1940’s-pre mid 1951 were taken in Nanna Joy‘s  5 Soudan St Thirroul home, with her children, son  Kenneth Charles Joy & his wife Marjorie, their children,  and daughter “Molly” Mary Constance Callcott (nee Joy) and three of her five children. Nanna Edith moved to the 5 Soudan St Thirroul home in the late 1940’s (1949?) –  and Sadie Tollner, mother of Marjorie Louisa Joy, died in mid 1951 – so Sadie‘s presence in the photographs above and below provide an approximate date range.

Tragically Nanna Edith‘s son Kenneth Charles Joy would pre-decease Nanna Edith  in 1952 and leave behind widow Marjorie and their three children, Margaret, Kenneth William and Kathleen. Niece Joan Callcott regarded Kenneth Charles as a real father figure and was very saddened at his premature death. Marjorie and her children were then looked after by Legacy for many years.

Some photos of Nanna Edith Joy‘s house at 5 Soudan St Thirroul back in the 1950’s and in June 2013 – shown below.

However there do not appear to be any photographs with any of her great grandchildren born prior to her death in 1958, viz Mary Louise Callcott, Kerrie Anne Adams, Julie Maree Adams and Virginia Gorton.

Of course there were many other great grandchildren born after Edith’s 1958 death, including …

Julie Risk, Ken Risk, Marissa Risk, Grant Joy, Mark Joy, children of Kathleen Joy, Ian Callcott, Daryl James Adams, Sharon Callcott, Pam Callcott, Mark Callcott, Susan Parks, Barbara Parks, Julie Parks, Barry Parks and Graham Parks.
